“Gyno. Tomorrow. 9:30” Can you imagine waking up to this sticky note being stuck on your door – by your father – in regards to your first gynecology visit?
Rapper and actor T.I. said in an interview that aired Tuesday that he goes with his 18-year-old daughter Deyiah – to the gynecologist each year to “check her hymen” and make sure it’s “still intact.” Yes, Clifford “T.I.” Harris acknowledged this practice via the “Ladies Like Us” post cast – hosted by model Nazanin Mandi and makeup artist Nadia Moham. Taking the sex talk conversation question with his daughters to a completely different level. When asked how he addresses sexuality with his daughters – T.I. proudly responded “Not only have we had the conversation. We have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen.”
I. goes onto account for the day that he personally scheduled the first gynecology visit for his now 18 year old daughter Deyjah, whom of which he still attends annual OBGYN visits with to ensure that she’s still a virgin.
Not Tiny, his wife, but T.I. schedules the visits. Attends them to check up on his 18 year old daughters virginity.
“After her 16th birthday party I put a sticky note on her door that read, Gyno. Tomorrow. 9:30. We’ll go and sit down and the doctor will come and talk, and the doctor’s maintaining a high level of professionalism” Said T.I. “He’s like, ‘Well, you know, sir, I have to, in order to share information’ — I’m like, ‘Deyjah, they want you to sign this, so we can share information. Is there anything you would not want me to know? Oh OK. See, doc? Ain’t no problem.”
Even though the doctor informed him that the hymen can be broken by other means than having sex, example playing sports, bike riding and various other forms of physical activity; T.I.’s response was “Look doc, she don’t ride no bikes. She don’t play no sports. Just check the hymen and please give me back the results expeditiously”. T.I was proud to announce that as of his daughters 18th birthday she’s still a virgin because her hymen is intact.
Now, the hymen is a small lining of what’s called muscosal tissue – or a thin fleshy member that lines various cavities in the body and covers the surface of internal organs. Its found partially covering the external vaginal opening. And it forms as a part of the vulva, or externals genitalia, and is similar in structure to the vagina. During puberty, estrogen causes the hymen to change in appearance and become very elastic. Normal variations of the post-pubertal hymen range from thin and stretchy to thick and somewhat rigid; or it may instead be completely absent.
Some facts to consider about the Hymen
- You can NOT tell if someone is a virgin or not by looking at their hymen.
- It is common for you not to bleed the first time you have sex.
- All hymens are stretchy but some are stretchier than others.
- You cannot tell if someone is a virgin or not based on whether they. bleed the first time they have sex.
After puberty (when you develop breasts and get periods), the hymen becomes more stretchy. Although the hymen may rip or tear the first time penetrative intercourse happens, which may cause temporary bleeding or slight discomfort – sources differ on how common tearing and bleeding after first intercourse occurs. Because some hymens may develop a small tear when stretched. The hymenal tissue is well supplied with blood, so it will bleed. Most people heal very quickly and there is no sign of damage within a few days. This is the same story for other little splits that might happen anywhere at the vaginal entrance. Thus, the state of the hymen is not a reliable indicator of virginity, although it continues to be considered so in certain cultures, and virginity testing may be done. She could have had sex already and T.I. is relying a faulty test (that has been debunked decades ago) called a virginity test. This is the practice and process of determining whether a person (usually a female) is a virgin. The objective is to determine that she has never engaged in, or been subjected to, sexual intercourse. The test typically involves a check for the presence of an intact hymen, on the flawed assumption that it can only be torn as a result of sexual intercourse.
Virginity testing is widely considered controversial, both because of its implications for the tested girls and women and because it is viewed as unethical (its not even reliable). In cases of suspected rape or child sexual abuse, a detailed examination of the hymen may be performed, but the condition of the hymen alone is often inconclusive.
Another form of virginity testing involves testing for laxity of vaginal muscles with fingers (the “two-finger test”). A doctor performs the test by inserting a finger into the female’s vagina to check the level of vaginal laxity, which is used to determine if she is “habituated to sexual intercourse”.However, the usefulness of these criteria has been questioned by medical authorities and opponents of virginity testing because vaginal laxity and the absence of a hymen can both be caused by other factors (such as a long period of abstaining from intercourse for the laxity). And the “two-finger test” is based on subjective observation.
So Where is he getting this from?
One of my male contacts stated “The pastor I follow states that all of the girls being raised in his church are encouraged to be virgins and good wives. So when a man wants to marry her, he better come correct himself.” Pretty much implying that most men shouldn’t be held accountable for nor “correct himself” if he’s dealing with a woman who’s not by the biblical sense pure.
And the testing of one’s Virginity can be seen in bible – Deuteronomy 22 – as a part Part of the Old Testament Law that dealt with the matter of a husband who accused his new wife of not being a virgin when he married her. If such a charge was leveled against an assumed virgin bride it states “then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring to the town elders at the gate proof that she was a virgin. Her father will say to the elders, Here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town. (Deuteronomy 22:15–17). If the proof of the bride’s virginity was given, her husband who made the false accusation was punished and fined (verses 18–19); however, if no proof could be found and the charge was true, then the unvirtuous bride was stoned to death (verses 20–21).
A white sheet or cloth was laid under the bride during the night of marital intercourse. The cloth was used to catch the blood that spilled from the hymen – that later served as proof to the elders that the brides virginity was the material containing blood from the bride’s broken hymen. This evidence was collected on the wedding night by others and kept by the bride’s parents. Because people believed that the placement of the hymen was Gods way of saying, “Whoever enters in to this woman shall only be able to do so by making a blood covenant to be joined to her for the rest of his life, from that point onward.”
The reason why this transpired was because this was the cultural norms and social conditions in which a particular situation such as a woman’s virginity was contingent upon business relationships between the bride’s father and her husband. Not to mention the family’s name and reputation could be ruined if the daughter was deemed defiled prior to her wedding night. Money, military ties, land ownership, business ventures and various properties were riding on the bride being untouched. Because the husband would be expectant of nothing less than a virgin wife. There were times that a virgin daughter’s purity would repay debt for the family. Which is still practiced in some countries to this day.
Minor injuries to the hymen may heal without visible signs of previous injury. A torn hymen may be surgically restored in a procedure called hymenorrhaphy – the temporary surgical restoration of the hymen.
Basically, T.I. has conditioned his 18 year old daughter to accept the socially constructed (religious) idea that he’s looking out for her best interest – in his attempts to maintain what many believe to be her marriage covenant with God. In the same fashion that the covenants God made with the patriarchs of Israel, her shedding of blood is seen as her covenant with God being “sealed in blood” T.I. is taking a position of headship over his daughter’s patriarchal covenant in future marriage. Guaranteeing that who ever marries her – he’s getting a pure virgin.
Let me break this T.I. Coonary down to y’all.
Most men know how they were (and still are) coming up – and the fear is seeing their daughter be just as whorish as they were (and still are). Keep in mind T.I. is part owner of the famed strip club “V-Live” on Marietta Boulevard downtown Atlanta. T.I. auditioned nearly 2,000 women to come and strip at this establishment who filmed the stripper auditions in combination with his reality show filming. One dancer by the name of Zylah racked up $30,000 on one Saturday night thanks to a table full of NBA players. and girls like Zylah are walking out the club with enough money to make a down payment on a suburban Atlanta home featuring 6 bedrooms, 10 foot ceilings, 8″ wide antiqued pine floors and an in-ground pool with a slide. All in a night’s work. And he’s known to frequent such spots as the famed “Magic City” and “Blue Flame”
When you live that life style you fear it coming back to haunt you with your daughters. Hoes, pimping, drug dealing – all of that made him who he is today. Thus, he’s going to take those extra measures (no matter how illogical or unethical they seem to us) to make sure his girls don’t fall in that trap.
A trap that he’s laid for other peoples daughters through out his career. He’s made millions off gullible women – he just doesn’t wanna see it happen to his own seed. Who’s benefiting off the sacrifices of said women. Dude is completely conflicted. He’s rapped about drugs, sex and violence now he’s worried his daughters will become a part of that life style.
And tangled up with someone like him.
